Welcome to the website of the Market Deeping Model Railway Club CIO.

Meetings

Meeting nights are normally Mondays at 7:30 p.m. except after Bank Holidays when we meet on Tuesdays at the same time.

History

The Club was founded in 1976, the same year as Concorde first flew. We started out in Market Deeping, just north of Peterborough and retained that name when we moved in 2003 to  Obthorpe a small village near Bourne and then in 2022 when we moved to new premises in Essendine.

Activities

We meet most Monday nights and with layouts in O, EM, OO, TT120 and N, we cater for a wide range of interests in the hobby. From those who wish to run in their existing stock on our test track, to those who want to build layouts, kits, scratch build models for exhibition or just talk! If you have an interest in model railways then this is the ideal club for you - from complete beginner to expert. We have a number of layouts under construction. However, our main focus at present is on relaying the test track, re-ordering and fitting out our new club room and of course, preparing for our annual show in May - see below.

Annual Show

We also organise at least one show every year, our main one is normally held in Stamford at Stamford Welland Academy to whom we are most grateful.  

Dates for our 2024 exhibition are 11th and 12th May 2024 

Exhibitions

In addition to our Annual Show mentioned above, we have great fun taking our layouts to exhibitions and if you join us, you can join in the fun too - a weekend away playing trains - what more could you ask for!

Library

Our very own library area offering a wide selection  of books on free loan to all members. What better way to read while watching the trains go by. Donations of books and videos are always welcome.
